Overview:

The Director of Sales in the manufacturing sector is responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to drive growth and profitability. This senior role requires extensive experience in sales management, a deep understanding of the manufacturing industry, and the ability to lead and motivate a sales team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Sales Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company sales targets and objectives.
  • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities and trends in the manufacturing industry.
  • Establish sales goals, quotas, and targets for the sales team.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

  •  Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales team.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and performance reviews to ensure the team meets their individual and collective goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and competitive sales environment.

3. Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and client satisfaction.
  • Negotiate and close major deals and contracts.

4. Sales Operations Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales department, ensuring efficient processes and systems are in place.
  • Monitor sales metrics and performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement CRM and other sales tools to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

5. Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence:

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand the competitive landscape and customer needs.
  • Develop pricing strategies and positioning to maximize profitability and market share.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, competitor activities, and market trends.

6. Budget Management:

  •  Develop and manage the sales department budget.
  •  Ensure effective allocation of resources to achieve sales goals.
  •  Monitor financial performance and report on sales revenue, costs, and profitability.

7. Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Work closely with the marketing, production, and R&D teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall company goals.
  • Provide feedback and insights to support product development and marketing initiatives.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a senior sales leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving significant growth.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of sales processes, market analysis, and CRM systems.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to travel as required.

 Reporting:

The Director of Sales will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position.
  • Office environment with regular working hours, flexibility required for travel and meetings with clients.
